Netflix has announced plans to produce three localized adaptations of the British reality competition phenomenon "The Circle" for global audiences, including a version tailored for American viewers.




This groundbreaking format serves as both a popularity competition and social experiment that mirrors contemporary social media dynamics. Originally developed by Studio Lambert under All3Media, the series debuted through a collaboration between Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Following its September premiere, the British edition has generated significant viewer engagement and nationwide discussion.



The competition's unique structure places participants in isolated apartments within one building, eliminating all physical interaction throughout the contest. Communication occurs exclusively through a voice-controlled social networking platform where contestants regularly evaluate one another. Those receiving low ratings face elimination through "blocking," while the ultimate victor claims a monetary reward. The digital-only interaction creates opportunities for contestants to either authentically represent themselves or adopt fabricated personas, raising compelling questions about authenticity and credibility in virtual relationships.
